Java Installation and Configuration



How to install Java?
Step 1: Login to Google
Step 2: Search for JDK and from search result click on “Java SE Development Kit 8” link.


Step 3: Select “Accept License Agreement” on “Java SE Development Kit 8 Downloads” page.
Step 4: Find your OS type, is it 32 Bit or 64 Bit?
Note: Press Windows Key on the keyboard >> Right Click on “Computer” and click Properties from Pop-up menu. You will find your OS type.

Step 5: Go back to web browser to download JDK, select the file link that is compatible for your OS. If your OS is 64 bit select “Windows x64” link, if your OS is 32 bit select “Windows x86”.
Step 6: Open the directory (Folder) where you downloaded the file “jdk-8u45-windows-i586.exe” or “jdk-8u45-windows-x64.exe” and double click on the file to start installation JDK in your computer.
Step 7: Search for JRE (Java Runtime Environment) on Google and from search result click on “Java SE Runtime Environment 8 - Downloads - Oracle” link.
Step 8: Select “Accept License Agreement” on “Java SE Runtime Environment Downloads” page.
Step 9: Download the suitable file for your computer OS and follow Step 6 to install the JRE file.
Now we need a tool to edit and run Java Program called IDE (Integrated Development Environment). To do so, search “eclipse download” on Google and click on the “Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers” link. Download the suitable Eclipse file for your OS by clicking link on the right side.
Step 10: Now install the Eclipse in your computer. As you finished installation you are good to write Java Program. But we need to configure Java for using in our professional environment or workplace.

How to Configure Java
Step 1: Press Windows key on your keyboard.
Step 2: Copy the path location of the directory where you installed JDK, i.e. “C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_45”.

Step 3: Right click on “Computer” and click “Properties”. Refer to the Screenshot below.
Step 4: Click on “Advanced system settings” from the left-hand side.
Step 5: Click “Environment variables…” button.
Step 6: Click “New…” button for user variables.
Step 7: Enter a Variable Name (Upper Case)
Step 8: Paste the path location in ‘variable value’ field, i.e. “C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_45” And then Click Ok.

Step 9: Click “New…” button for System variables
Step 10: Find and Select “Path” variable and then click “Edit…” button.
Step 11: You will see that variable value is selected and press “End” button from your keyboard.
Step 12: Put “;” and paste the path location here again, i.e. “C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_45\bin”. And then click “Ok”
Step 13: Click “Ok” on all the Boxes until you see the “System properties” box disappeared.
Now you are done with Java configuration.
